2010 Cycle Oregon Route Announcement - Countdown Time!

“It’s the most... wonderful time... of the year...” Cycle Oregon route announcement time that is - February 4th, 2010 - the night of the 2010 Cycle Oregon week long and weekend ride route announcements! In two weeks we will finally know this years route. The event will be held at the Tiger Woods Center on the Nike Campus in Portland, Oregon. And just like years past, the route announcement will be followed with an immediate flood of registrants for both rides. Sign up that night or very soon afterwards - or you will be left behind in tears. This post will be the first of many where I will chronicle my own Cycle Oregon experiences and share those moments and images with you.

The official description can be found here but here is my nutshell version: Every September for one week, 2,200 or so cyclists get together to have the best time of their lives. It can be summed up simply as one of the greatest yet most personally challenging events you will ever participate in. If you are a cyclist and have not been on this trip you are truly missing out on something special. It should have been on Morgan Freeman's Bucket List! If you are not a cyclist you should become one so you can be a part of this event, as its not dubbed “The Best Bike Ride in America” for nothing. (Just don’t get in line before I register - space is limited - if the past is any indicator the ride will sell out in a month or two after the route announcement on the 4th)

If incredible scenery, fresh air, great food, rigorous physical challenge, and the camaraderie of 2,000+ cyclists sounds fun - it is. I personally missed the 2009 week ride after a string of 3 week long trips in 2006 - 2008, with the weekend trip in 2006 and 2009. I definitely will not be missing the 2010 week ride. You see, experiencing the emptiness of missing out last year, I just can’t let that happen again. It is much more than a bike ride - it is a life experience.

Check out the full details at the link above. If you have questions about the ride, feel free to comment here on the blog and I will answer any you might have.
